I see a lot of people saying the same time that I think of all the time. I don't really mind losing, but when I'm getting gen rushed and the players just aren't wanting to chase; it annoys the fuck outta me. Cause the game ended quicker than the amount of time it took for me to find the damn match and it's just a huge waste of my time. I can get over annoying builds, stupid maps, and tbagging. However, when I can't practice my killer power, test my build, or just play the damn game. It just makes me want to play a different game. I don't get how people actually play the game just to do gens and not interact with other players.
If I said once I said it 100 times. Idc about preaching about how to balance the game. Although, trying to balance the game around perks and random map RNG is seriously dumb af. It ruins actual versatility and possibility.
I wear the legacy pants adam and the killer always uses their most OP perks and add-ons, idk how to feel.
Me loading into game 🙂
Hearing nurse teleport 🙁
Yk guys, if you see 4 offerings and 4 p100s together, you don't have to play that match, dodge and go next <3
If you don't want the challenge don't force yourself. I shamelessly dodge all the time, idc. I don't wanna play against sweaty 4 man's
Hey Choy, appreciate you taking the time to make this video. I have been experiencing a lot of what you are talking about and I must say the biggest aspect to me is The current map rotation especially for the event was very survivor-sided with a lot of their maps. This made it extremely frustrating to simply just play any game as the killer because every map was automatically a huge disadvantage against competent players.
I think most people are really just aiming for the results and not the things that happen in a match between the killer and survivors. My biggest issues is when matches feel short becaue that means that there was very little encounters between survivor and killer. I like long tension filled matches were you actually want to make comebacks, or become super invested in a match and leave feeling great. And everyone being a good sport. I don’t care what people do in the match but when people start talking shit in endgame etc. That leaves a bad taste.
Something I've learned from playing fighting games for like 3 years now is that sometimes you are just gonna get rolled, be it from inexperience, a skill difference between you and the other side, or from just starting the game in a situation that is not in your favor. Recognizing that you're at a disadvantage isn't hard, but learning to not get tilted by it, and playing to the best of your ability regardless is a learned skill that I think goes really underappreciated in the dbd community
If I see 4 survivors with salty lips, I just load in and afk. Fuck 'em.
This is very true. If you go into a match with an expectation of a 4K or an escape you're just setting yourself up for disappointment and frustration. The most fun way to play the game will always be to engage with the opposite side as much as possible and the best way to do that is to take chase. This ensures you're having fun and your opponents are having fun. The game thrives when no one gives a darn about sacrifices or escapes.
Unfortunately, the game is fundamentally flawed in design and allows for boring playstyles like camping, tunnelling, pre-dropping pallets, holding W, and gen-rushing. It's also worthy to note that these playstyles are never going to go away unless they add a new mode to the game and/or adjust the sizes of the maps. I doubt that will ever happen given the age of DBD.
So, we look to the future. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre releases in 2023 and brotherrr let me tell you I'll be playing the ever-loving HECK of it because the current state of DBD is like a never-ending match against an agi-starstruck nurse on Midwich and you better believe that wheezy old bag is slugging for the 4K.
Pissing me off, brotherrrr.
"life is copium" KEKW truer words have never been said
Player killer is so stressful against swf
That's what I've been doing recently and I've been loving the game but I just had a match of my teammate teamed with a wesker leading him to us and pointing to our locations which just kinda ruined it
I basically treat every match as it doesnt matter. This shit is like competitive Mario Party; it's out of my hands. I don't want to have to come strapped EVERY match
I don't play killer, and I still find DBD as more killer-favoring than survivor-sided (just look at the win ratio for killers in the latest statistics). That said, I choose to stay in the match when other survivors throw in the towel very early on, disconnecting and killing themselves on first hook and stuff.
Anyway, I agree—choose to just have fun playing DBD when you boot the game up. This way, you'll end up performing at your peak, as you're not pressured by whether the trial progresses in your favor or not. Still, I strongly believe that Killers have more fun in DBD than survivors for the reason I stated above.
I've been playing DBD for over two weeks now, and I'm currently Iridescent IV. Something I noticed thus far is that the MMR/matchmaking system is an absolute joke. My current matches sometimes play just as an Ash, Bronze, Silver, or Gold IV matches would. Sometimes I get a killer and/or survivors way above my skill level, sometimes the other way around. It's so odd to see buffs and nerfs take place at a detailed or "competitive" level, if you will, and still have a matchmaking and MMR that is so rudimentary.
Everytime I see a map offering i just go afk and watch YouTube, solo survivor is already miserable and i don't have time to waste with killers that decide to play easy mode
I usually just ctrl-alt-del if the offerings scream 4-man bully squad. It's just not worth it. I won't quit out during stream, but I won't deny doing it, no shame but really if the match is set that hard against you by survivors it's just not worth it. Oh and to be clear, it's not "not worth it" because I won't win; that's honestly never bothered me. What bothers me is that I KNOW what is waiting both in match and post match against teams who play their hand early either by offerings or crazy aggressive plays early on. It's a match that I am going to be in a situation were I won't be allowed to do anything, and the survivors will make sure I understand way. It's a match were the survivors let me know I'm just there to be their play thing until they get bored and decide to move on and then the barrage of toxicity in the end. My thing to help me enjoy dbd, is I don't get mad (at least I try not to) and I simply do not indulge toxic behavior. So I'll quit out of a match, yeah it feeds them somewhat, but not as much as it would if I stayed for them to engage in persistent abuse. Or I'll force-close the game early to consume their offerings and find a new lobby. If I'm having a rough day, I'll just drop any lobby that has 4 survivors pop in all at once without loosing any after 30s. The really issue isn't about balance per se, it's about raw exploitability, that's what BHVR has been ignoring by pretending SWF hasn't drastically shifted what survivor teams are capable of.
What's completely ruined this game for me is SBMM. It's made it so each side needs to use the strongest stuff to compete and win. It's gotten to the point now where if you're not playing in a 4 man SWF as survivor you're getting rolled and if you're not playing a killer you're good at with strong gen defence you're getting rolled. I feel the majority of the community hates how much they have to sweat in every single match to win. But they don't change how they play because everyone prefers to win in a game. I see some in the comments mention just playing killers they're not great with like Huntress where they just go for shots. But because survivors rarely get an easy killer they'll still be conditioned to get the gens done in four minutes flat. Likewise when a killer gets a rare chill game where the survivors are going down easy most won't let up and tunnel survivors out relentlessly even if they're still at 4 gens. I play on the Australian servers so I'm curious if this is just a local thing or if everyone is experiencing this where both sides play like they're in the DBD Olympics every single match.
If I know I'm going to have a rough match, I can detach myself from it well and play casually, but then it makes me feel TERRIBLE when the game itself back stabs me because of auto aim, frame rate, lag, etc so it's not even the players most of the time at this point.
great video!
but choy, "the game is killer sided and survivor is unplayable 🤡🤡🤡 "
I honestly dont mind losing and just getting fun chases. But as for the elephant in the room… Toxic/Tbagging survivors. I switch my gameplay up immediately and tunnel and proxy camp them until i force out a win.
Ngl the 4 man slippery meat build is a ton of fun. It's also not very good even if it has plus sides but I understand the frustration.
I was just trying to do a challenge the other day and the guys were doing 4 man Head on on Lerys and I was like lemme just get the challenge and not worry about anything. Got my challenge and then just chilled the rest of the game.
I think the matches that really burn my brain to ashes, are where the new meta is just unbearable, killers using cracked add ons with 3 gen builds being stronger than ever. Trying to get out of a 30 minute game is all I want.
Then when I go to killer, it’s just map offering after map offering, I’m fine losing to RNG, I just don’t want them to choose the RNG.
I acknowledge i’m going to get a lot of hate for this. But I don’t tilt at dbd anymore. The thing that tilted me is when swf’s would choose a map and bring the strongest stuff they could manage. Nothing tilted me as survivor, but as killer having those odds stacked against you was pain. Eventually I realized, i want to play the game for fun, I’d rather play for fun and wait then not enjoy my time. Afterall what is the point of playing a videogame if you aren’t having fun? So i simply dodge all map offerings to overly survivor sided maps. Haven’t been tilted in a year.
I can relate, and to avoid this I’ve been trying to find other ways to have fun besides “win”. Funny little meme moments with a survivor or killer usually makes the match better overall (unless it’s super sweaty already). I would rather die/lose in a funny way than feel like I’m forced to sweat
I play oni when I play dbd my objective is to chase people not win cause his power is so fun to use, also when I get an indoor map I keep in mind there’s nothing more satisfying than perfectly maneuvering the tight halls into a solid flick keep up that positive mental attitude
Competitive games w/o battle passes is just an exercise in raising those numbers. I got iri 3 last season and I chilling this season cause the sweaty play styles ain't worth the trouble.
I know this is a little bit off topic but I have to say this. Off the record is the most broken perk they've ever added into the game and I realized this not in my Killer games but BY PLAYING SURVIVOR. When few gens are remaining and the killer is basically forced to tunnel, you can put him into an absolutely unwinnable situation. If he tries to tunnel you = nope, if he tries tries to hook someone else = more off the record. If he tries to defend the gens = leads to a boring stalemate which will eventually lead to the survivors winning if they don't mess it up (which to be honest, most survivor players past the 500 hour mark will rarely mess up at all). People will always defend off the record by saying "ooh but actually, survivors will get unhooked and go immediately running towards the killer throughout the whole map just to take a protection hit instead of doing gens" but that's the incorrect way of using the perk. You have to be targeted by the killer, squeeze every loop and when the timer is nearly out force a hit and use the endurance status to W to another loop. That way you waste the killer's time and if he is forced to tunnel he won't drop you anyway. I won games or escaped so many times just because of off the record. Not to mention that it does 2 whole other things on top of the endurance status, like wtf? Of course, this doesn't bother killers like The Nurse but honestly what does. I am more bothered by other killers getting nerfed to the ground in a game where The Nurse gets buffs.
As killer its when survivors pick/get a strong survivor map and just predrops safe pallets while blasting gens, medkits and toolboxes makes it worse, i just whant do do some m1 killer mindgames and chases but feel like i cant get it. As a survivor i mostly have fun cause i can CHOSE to play interactive in the chase even if we loose.
I’ve actually started doing this pretty recently since I’ve been really wanting to play more killer recently, I missed my girl Legion, so pretty much every game I say to myself “Alright, let’s give this a go, don’t expect anything if anything expect a loss or a tie” and that had pretty much saved me from getting super titled and let my play killer for way longer then I used to.
I also put on some music in the background for extra points
But ultimately, if you feel yourself getting frustrated maybe switch sides or turn off the game for a bit
What kick my mind more than everything else off of the game is still the map rng.
Not only that it is possible to get eyrie of crows like 3 times in a row, it also is the randomness in the spawn of paletts.
I played a match of Iron Works yesterday as Myers.
Despite the fact that the survs only held shift w anyway, there were only 5 Pallets on the map. Killer shack, the 2 at main, one of those Tiles from Ormond and Yamaoka and a 4 Wall.
But afterwards I got Iron Works again as Wraith and there were like 10 Paletts concentradet in the center and Killer shack side alone.
It is really stupid, that the games randomness goes from.
Survs must hold shift W because nothing else id there (and if you have a mobile Killer you lose)
to palett town, where you are literally able to pre drop every single palett and there would still be some left, by the time the last gen pops.
Awesome advice the how to play killer without going insane really helped me and my sanity.
Thanks Choy this is really appreciated 🐽💕
The only times I DC as killer is when I have to deal with an actual 4Man that looks like they know their stuff and abuse bugs for advantages. If they complete three gens in less than 60 seconds while chasing the first person I encountered and finally got a down and Tbag, i will just leave. Not because I am mad, but because I don't want to stress myself over a GAME with people who don't appreciate me giving them a game in the first place.
As Survivor, I barely DC, I don't remember DCing even once as survivor. Maybe occasionally when I have to do chores, or the mailman has arrived to give me something (dont want to be just afk standing)
I get bored playing survivor because I find it too easy and simple. I get stressed out as Killer after having to deal with Smurfs or people who pretend to be new but only to curbstomp me and bully the new players, then proceed to insult them in endgame chat without realising they were in the same shoes.
So I just do the smartest thing, Play another game like Deep Rock Galactic, Slay the Spire or just a Gacha game where the community is way more pleasant and friendly and not overly competitive in what used to be a party horror game
I've learned to not care although I still get tilted sometimes… Especially when you run into a team with 2 prestige 100 flashlight bully squad and get bullied.
As a game dev myself, it's not the fact I lose that upsets me, it's purely the terrible game design that plagues literally every single aspect of this game from the menus to the perks to the gameplay loop. I'm convinced there isn't a single faultless aspect of this entire game, all of it can be easily vastly imporved.
My frustration comes from BHVRs absolute diehard refusal to do the right thing in every given situation. The frustration stems from their total absolute ignorance towards their own game, with takes akin to the likes of WatchMojo and other games culture magazines that write a review or even worse a tutorial, on a game they have barely played and have no real understanding of. It's the same frustration from watching politicians completely misunderstand the zeitgeist of the country they rule and continue to do the wrong thing time and time again, with the solution being as simple as asking those whom your decision affect what they think.
I faced as Nemesis the same team yesterday with their same build and i didn't feel like they are so good even one of them dc because i downed him so fast.
Anyway gg bro 💙
Talk all you want 90% of the players don't know how to play, I've been testing everybody , 6 years they still have no clue what they're doing
Wait you actually try I think you should study up more, If you're trying then you already lost
The thing that upsets me the most is either
1. when I try to win and end up losing hard, if I lose like a 2k or a 9hook 1k I won't
2. If I can't peacefully do simple challenges like 'repair x gens' 'heal x survivor'. Not the throwing challenges. Cause if I'm trying to grind and I go against sweaty double range 4 slowdown nurses match after match I might as well just uninstall
Couldn’t agree more. My friend and I say hey do you want to get murdered as a euphemism for playing DBD. It’s more of a joke now but it’s always set expectations pretty low so we don’t mind dying.
The only thing that actually pisses me off is being slugged for 4 minutes. That shit tilts tf out of me for some reason.
I feel like even if your expectations are low, game balance as a discussion can still be a topic in a non whiney way. even if its me testing out a broken addon or perk on either role.
